PEARL & THE OYSTERS: Pearl & The Oysters is a state of mind: a bucolic paradise where twinkling electric piano and floating flute lines commingle around breezy beats and unaffected, wide-eyed vocals. In short, the group’s music is blissful. The partnership between primary Pearls Juliette Pearl Davis (Juju) and Joachim Polack (Jojo) has yielded five releases of refined songwriting, melodies, and arrangements harkening back to the golden eras of pop and exotica.  

These days, the world is different, and the duo’s operative word for our society is “frenzied.” Pearl & The Oysters reference our reality on the group’s new album Monkey Mind (Stones Throw). The title (borrowed from a Buddhist concept) reflects what we are going through as a culture: scrolling on our phones, searching for an elusive answer. In this context, their heady, comforting music offers a warm escape.

 Mae Powell is a San Francisco based singer songwriter, jazz singer, and open hearted participant of her creative community. She released her sophomore album "Making Room For the Light" on Colemine Records in 2025 and is currently working on album number three. You can find her singing jazz, spinning records, in the park with her friends, or playing her original music with her 5 piece band.
