THE IAN FAYS: This San Francisco indie, electronica, folk rock band was formed on June 9, 1984 - the day singer-songwriter sisters Lizz and Sara Fay were born. "The music just kind of followed," say the Fay twins. "Dad Fay didn't believe all his kids needed bedrooms, but rather the Fay family always needed a music room. The living room was covered with amps, cords and 4-track machines. One boring summer, the siblings all started to put this junk to good use." The Fay family migrated up to Humboldt County, where they pretended to go to college but really invested in "matching costumes and large quantities of lollipops." They also adopted (real) sister, Lena, and (pretend) brother, Bradley, into the band. Soon the Ian Fays, named in honor of "the most gorgeous boy" at the twin sisters' junior high school, began gigging and presto - the Ian Fays were signed to Italian label Homesleep Music.
