Salami Rose Joe Louis W/ Saxreligious

5/17

$15

Bay Area singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and producer Lindsay Olsen is the brilliant mind behind the warped and magical project Salami Rose Joe Louis. Drawing from her studies in planetary sciences, she creates a unique experience: exploring ideas of multiverses and climate change through the lens of a fictional post-apocalyptic keyboard-toting earthling with a flashlight, a can of cashews and a hopeful optimism. Melding influences from jazz, rock and hip-hop.

Eli Maliwan Is a transgender Asian American performing musician, composer, educator, activist, who was born and raised in the Bay Area, CA. He performs, records, and tours with multiple local projects including his own: Saxreligious. He studied music full time in lieu of traditional high school and received a Bachelor’s of Music from Portland State University where he was deeply influenced by the mentorship of Darrell Grant. Eli continued study with a Master’s of Fine Arts from the California Institute of the Arts. Although his obsession with saxophone is 20 years strong, Eli is a multi-instrumentalist that also performs on flute, clarinet, EWI (Electronic Wind Instrument), piano, electric bass, and voice.

ADVANCE BASS W/ Village of Spaces & Karima Walker

5/25

$12

Advance Base is the melancholic soft rock recording project of Chicago, IL singer/songwriter Owen Ashworth (formerly of Casiotone for the Painfully Alone). Using a two-handed arsenal of electric piano, Omnichord, samplers, effect pedals & drum machines, Ashworth builds minimalist, heavy-hearted, & nostalgia-obsessed ballads around his conversational baritone. The warm, electronic sound of Advance Base has been described as "lo-fi," "depressed" & "weirdly uplifting."

'Brilliant new album from Village of Spaces, a combo once described as, “Dan and his raggletaggle band of hippies” by Michael Hurley, a guy who knows about such things. The Dan in question is Dan Beckman-Moon who, along with his partner Amy Moon Offerman-Sims, is the central core of this constantly evolving, psychedelically inclined, folk juggernaut.V.O.S. has had many name variations and members in the 17 years since Dan and Amy formed this more perfect union, but all of their recordings are possessed of a singular sense of rurality and otherness. They've been based everywhere from Santa Cruz to New Orleans to Belfast (Maine), and this album was recorded in expectedly nomadic fashion. Using various players and rooms from their network of collusionists, Shaped by Place offers a smoother ride than some of its predecessors. The two covers they do of songs by Gordon Bok (the legendary Maine folksinger/woodworker who was Dan's mentor when he was coming up) have a very sweet traditional swing.

(((FOLK YEAH)))!!! PRESENTS: CHARLES MOOTHART & Milk for the Angry

$16 Adv or $20 Door

8PM

Los Angeles based musician Charles Moothart (Fuzz, Goggs, Freedom Band) released previous solo work under the moniker CFM. Change is the only universal truth, and now it is time to brandish the full name. Moothart's new album Black Holes Don't Choke (out March 8 via In The Red) is made up of "love songs for the apocalypse." It is his the most self-assured solo release to date. Heavy riffs alternating with spacious tunes, and a live set that vacillates from fast and loose to groovy and heady. Moothart is now touring with the Fast Band, which is comprised of 4 veterans of the Los Angeles music scene with too many credentials to list. This lineup brings a new sense of dynamic while holding on to grit and drive. All of these factors crack open a new chapter for the Californian multi-instrumentalist.

$18 Advance

Meatbodies are guided by the guitar and vocals of Chad Ubovich, a longtime fixture on the California garage punk and new psychedelic scenes who leads the band through an exploration of various types of guitar rock. They started off being influenced by punk, hitting hard while still delivering poppy melodies, then expanded into more psychedelic-inspired territory on 2017's concept album Alice. After some tumultuous years, the band preserved and extended their six-string tendrils in the direction of shoegaze, dream pop, and '90s alternative on 2023's Flora Ocean Tiger Bloom.

MIKE HELLMAN W/ WILEY GABY & Acacia Forgot

3/15

$10 DOOR

Mike Hellman is a country and americana troubadour with a bent for the unconventional. Slinging songs with substance, conviction and grit, he's on a mission to tell his truth and he insists on being heard.

Wiley Gaby is a queer country/folk singer-songwriter based in Brooklyn, NY. With a small-town upbringing in northern Florida, Gaby infuses classic country influences and rural roots with the collisions and stumbles of life in “the big city”. His sincere songwriting packs a punch and his emotional tenor voice brings balladeer vulnerability and melodrama to his music, as NPR Music notes, "swelling into high notes and emoting with sly finesse." Gaby released his debut LP Bridges in 2015 (as Goldenchild with collaborator Jeff Doker), a gorgeous “case study in combining country with pop music and coming out with something that is heartfelt and mature. In other words, real country music.” (Rachel Cholst, Adobe & Teardrops) The Boot featured Gaby and Goldenchild as “10 Queer Country Artists Country Music Fans Should Know".
